Upma is instant breakfast food of India. This is soft, moist, and loaded with veggies healthy recipe as it is delicious too, made by semolina/rava. South Indian breakfast is a great way to start your day and stay full for hours! 

The secret to the best semolina or rava upma lies in two things: roasting the rava and getting the rava to water ratio right. Serve this with a side of hot filter coffee, and you’ve got yourself a delicious wholesome breakfast right there!

Ingredients
  

  • 100 gm semolina Rava
  • 1 tbsp Mustard seeds 
  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 onion fine choped
  • 1 tomato cut in small
  • ¼ carrot cut in small cube

you can add more veg's like peas, cashew nuts, roasted peanuts

  • 3-4 curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 Green chili cut in 3 pics
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriandar
  • cup water

Instructions
 

  • Roast semolina / rava on medium heat keep a side.
  • In hot pen add oil, mustard seeds and then cumin seed. Once they splutter add onion curry leaves saute for a minute now add tomato (and other veggies) and green chili, cook for 2 minutes on high flame now add water cook until boil, add rava/semolina slowly while stirring continuously, this helps avoid lumps in the upma.
  • Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes till the semolina absorbs all the water, steams and blooms. addcoriander leaves and serve hot.

Notes

You can store and keep roasted rava in air tight container so that you can save time while cooking.
